I so think we react differently to change if we're in the drivers seat (which is often why it's so important to bring key impacted teams into the conversations early. Sometimes being at the table can make it feel more like a choice). BUT i also think resistance still exists in changes you choose... but it seems to show up earlier.. like before you officially choose to change (for me) there is often such resistance and doubt and procrastination/avoidance. Usually that's my internal sign that a change is even necessary.

I really like your mention of resistance, and agree that it accompanies most changes because we're being asked to do something/show up differently than we're used to or comfortable with. To know going into a change that resistance can be there (OK...will be there) can be a relief of sorts, and a sign that there is something to pay attention to as we anticipate and start moving through change. I also agree that we get internal "nudges" about changes that need to happen often before they're here, so the choice to see resistance as helpful is important...if we can see it as such. No easy feat. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! <3
